Botanical Family: Lamiacea or Labiatae (Mint)
Plant Origin: Utah, Idaho, France
Extraction Method: Steam distilled from flowering top
Historical Data: The French scientist Rene Gattafosse was the first to discover lavender's ability to promote tissue regeneration and speed wound healing when he severely burned his arm in a laboratory accident. Today, lavender is one of the few essential oils to still be listed in the British Pharmacopoeia.
Medical Properties: Antiseptic, antifungal, analgesic, antiumoral, anticonvulsant, vasodilating, relaxant, anti-inflammatory, reduces blood fat/cholesterol, combats excess bebum on skin
Uses: Respiratory infections, high blood pressure, ateriosclerosis, menstrual problems/PMS, skin conditions (perineal repair, acne, eczema, psoriasis, scarring, stretch marks), burns, hair loss, insomnia, nervous tension
Fragrant Influence: Calming, relaxing, and balancing both physically and emotionally, improves mental accuracy, concentration
Application:
1. Apply 2-4 drops on location (does not need to be deluded)
2. Apply on chakras and/or Vita Flex points
3. Inhale directly
4. Diffuse
5. take as a dietary supplement (this is for Young Living's essential oil only)
How we use it:
Here are just some of the ways we use this essential oil in our household:
1. First Aid: This oil is great for scrapes, cuts, burns, headaches, and menstrual aches.
2. The antibacterial properties are great for general cuts and scrapes. We put 1 drop on the area, gently rub it in then apply a band-aid.
3. When we are sunburned or if we get burn from the campfire, cooking, etc lavender helps regenerate the tissue effected, it also cools and soothes the burn.
4. Headaches can often be minimized with this oils calming and anti-inflammatory properties. Just a drop or two on your hand and massaged at the temples and the back of the head work wonders.
5. We also put it on the bottom of our feet at night to aid in relaxation to help us sleep. Lavender can be used in so many ways that you really can't go wrong with this one. When it doubt reach for the lavender.
