Countdown to Christmas: Day 2

I hope everyone had a lovely 1st day of December. I got to spend it with my hubby, mom, and dad celebrating Thankgiving by going out to eat. It was delicious and nice to see them.  I love when the holidays are simple. Just spending time together catching up. To me that is far more memorable then spending lots of money on each other.

Today's verse comes from Isaiah 9:2-7.

2 The people who walked in darkness have seen a great light; those who dwelt in a land of deep darkness, on them has light shone.
3 You have multiplied the nation; you have increased its joy; they rejoice before you as with joy at the harvest, as they are glad when they divide the spoil.
4 For the yoke of his burden, and the staff for his shoulder, the rod of his oppressor, you have broken as on the day of Midian.
5 For every boot of the tramping warrior in battle tumult and every garment rolled in blood will be burned as fuel for the fire.
6 For to us a child is born, to us a son is given; and the government shall be upon his shoulder, and his name shall be called Wonderful Counselor, Mighty God, Everlasting Father, Prince of Peace.
7 Of the increase of his government and of peace there will be no end, on the throne of David and over his kingdom, to establish it and to uphold it with justice and with righteousness from this time forth and forevermore. The zeal of the LORD of hosts will do this.

Peace be with you!

Countdown to Christmas

I found on Pinterest a count down to Christmas that has a bible verse for each day.  This to me is so important because I think we are starting to lose what Christmas is really about.  I saw on the news the other day that the average family spends roughy $300 to $500 per child on Christmas! All I can say is wow on this one.  As someone with a child on the way my husband and I have discussed what we plan to do for future Christmases. All I can tell you is right now we know we won't be spending that much on this little one but focusing on what Christmas is really about.

Today's verse comes from John 1:1-5
1 In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God.
2 He was in the beginning with God.
3 All things were made through him, and without him was not any thing made that was made.
4 In him was life, and the life was the light of men.
5 The light shines in the darkness, and the darkness has not overcome it.

If you want to follow along feel free to check out this blog each day or check out Pinterest.
Peace be with you!
