EO Spotlight: Lemon

Happy Monday folks!  Today I bring to you the next oil in the Everyday Oil collection, Lemon.  This awesome oil is one of my favorites to add to water.  Let's learn a little more about it, shall we?
Lemon (Citrus Limon)
Botanical Family: Rutaceae (Citrus)
Plant Origin: California, Italy
Extraction Method: Cold pressed from rind.  It takes 3,000 lemons to produce 1 kilo of oil
Historical Data:  Research by Jean Valnet, MD showed that vaporized lemon oil can kill meningococcus bacteria in 15 minutes, typhoid bacilli in one hour, staphylococcus aureus in two hours, and Pneumoncoccus bacteria within 3 hours.  Even a 0.2% solution of lemon oils can kill diptheria bacteria in 20 minutes and inactivate tuberculosis bacteria.  Lemon oils has been widely used in skin care to cleanse skin and reduce wrinkles and combat acne.  Lemon has shown to have antidepressant effects in research done by Komori, et al., 1995.
Medicinal Properties: Antitumoral, antiseptic, improves microcirculation, and immune stimulant (increases white blood cell count), improves memory, relaxation.  Rich in limonene, which has been extensively studied in over 50 clinical studies for its ability to combat tumor growth.
Uses: Circulatory problems, arteriosclerosis, obesity, parasites, urinary tract infections, vericose veins, anxiety, hypertension, digestive problems, acne
Fragrant Influences:  It promotes clarity of thought and purpose with a fragrance that is invigorating, enhancing and warming.  University researchers in Japan found that diffusing certain aromas in an office environment dramatically improves mental accuracy and concentration.  Diffused lemon resulted in 54% fewer errors, jasmine 33% fewer errors, and lavender 20% fewer errors.  When aromas were diffused during test taking, scores increased by as much as 50%.  A 1995 Mie University study found that citrus fragrances bossed immunity, induced relaxation, and reduced depression.

  1. Apply 2-4 drops on location
  2. Apply on chakras and/or Vita Flex Points
